man. I can’t help but feel like i’m slackin on the whole design tip.

Especially when something like this comes out. I have been writing concepts down that I’ve been dreaming up, and It’s crazy how spot on this one is compared to my own.

Up until about a couple of years ago, I guess I can say that I have started to hear music in a different way again. Whenever I listen to anything now, I tend to always equate it to some sort of movement. I’m either visualizing animation, or something real concrete like a screenplay treatment or scenario. Although I’m not part of the dance community, I can honestly admit to being heavily influenced by it. This also leads me to visualize movement of the body and how it can be used to explain how things might move in animation or vice-versa I guess.

I’m not saying whoever produced this robbed me or anything. Plus, I feel I still have some other ideas that play along with this concept differently. Lets just hope I get an opportunity to actually bring it to life.

so yea, this vid is pretty ill.

    “Distraction”

This is basically about how the reporting at the time was more focused on the over exaggerated nuclear story rather than the actual accounts of Japanese citizens.

kinda late posting this up. it’s not one of my favorites. I hella had to neglect this project because I was in the middle of producing that 112 page book along with everything else with it.

select a news sentence and produce and animatic for it.

    Selected News Sentence:

“The coverage so far is really not showing the extent of the humanitarian situation because the normal interviews and the stories of their struggles with survivors are being hidden.”

    Exercise 4 - Expressive Timing

This exercise was mainly about experimenting with graphs in After Effects to animate in more detail. The whole point was animating to sound using timing with the graphs but instead I just took audio data and linked (pickwhipped+expressions) it to certain characteristics.

So when the audio wave form hit’s hard on the bass, the numerical value of that is copied and used on something specific like the scale of an object…or in this case, a circle.

bass hits > circle gets bigger/particle cannon spits more particles out.

    fun stuff….

Pull toys are basically almost ancient in contrast to all the other stuff coming out for kids today.
In my Rapid Visualization class. we had to create and sketch out our own design and use the techniques we’ve learned so far in the semester.
For those who may not recognize it, I decided to create a simplified pull toy of the Cat Bus from My Neighbor Totoro
This sketch is specifically done with pencil, shaded with Prismacolor Cool Greyscale markers and Highlighted/detailed and outlined with some Prismacolor pencils.
I left out a lot of details for the sake of time and laziness, and I know it needs plenty of work, I tend to rush things obviously.

The first round COMP I put together pretty fast.
This is just an example of process and how much the logos evolved over time.
(about 6-8 weeks of work/revisions/tweaking)

been meaning to post up my latest work.
probably the best work I did for the whole semester.
For our FINAL, we basically had to pretend CAL Academy of Sciences was our client and design a new Identity for them.
Along with 4 sub logos, a poster, a postcard and a piece of collateral with our logo(s) printed on it. (given about 10 weeks to work on it.)
- - - -
this is the California Academy of Science - Parent Logo
It’s basically a random abstraction that represents the Academy as well as it’s attractions. Each of the elements in the logo are taken from the sub logos (or they can be separated and become their own logos—however you want to look at it).
